Since it was conceived in 1944, the Veterans Administration Home Loan Program of the federal government, also known to many as the VA Loan, has become very helpful in terms of home improvement financial assistance to millions of individuals who have served in the armed forces.
Through the years, many financial institutions have been specializing in VA home improvement loans to lend money to those who are eligible. Often times, counselors and credit advisers are asked to help them through the process. More often than not, financial and lending institutions may require one to present a Certificate of Eligibility obtained through the United States Department of Veterans Affairs to be able to get a VA home loan. The certificate may be obtained by completing the Form 26-1880 and submitting it to the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
One has to remember that the Department of Veterans Affairs can only guarantee the VA home improvement loans; they do not process the loans. Thus, the department should not be contacted by the applicants about the status of their loans. If one doesn’t know any financial institution that lends money for VA home improvements, he can ask his local VA office for recommendations.
