Just like mobile phones and computers, different car models tend to offer different features and performance level. They also have different capacities and some may be designed to be driven on a particular road type. You can’t expect one to drive a luxury car over muddy and rough roads. Therefore, being a car dealer, you must know things about different cars as there may become a chance that a customer may come into your store or office to inquire whether it’s better to choose a replacement Toyota over his current car.

A dealer should always be prepared for questions like “is it better?” thus he must be equipped with lots of information about his products and about his competition. There are people who might have done some research of their own about cars therefore it is not a good idea if you’re just telling them what information a brochure may contain. There are also some customers who are not very knowledgeable of cars and it would be helpful to give them tips and advices from your own experience as they have the tendency to listen to this kind of information rather than listen to your impersonal car presentation and sales talk.

Most importantly, a dealer should be aware that every customer has a different taste, needs and preferences. Thus it is a must that he listens first and attends to those factors before showing a product to the customer to make sure it is suitable.
